Ola, Stenia’s granny/Ola, babcia Steni

My working mum cooked because she had to – she was hardly an inspiration for me. But there was always someone to learn from. Like Ola, Stenia’s granny. Thanks to Ola there was always something nice to eat in their kitchen. I tasted hot buns, butter cookies, tasty chicken soup with pasta… Ola taught me that cooking could be nice.

I wanted to try her dishes so since early age I started experimenting with food. Here in Italy I’ve learned how to cook cheaper. Southern Italians are good with saving - every now and then you would see someone arguing with the shopkeeper. The clients would explain that the product is for sure discounted and cost a couple of euro cents less.

Italians are not shy when it comes to asking for some meat scraps in the butcher shop – and they wouldn’t explain: it’s for the dog. Pasta with peas is cheap. Bring to boil a pot with some water, frozen peas, salt and olive oil. It needs to cook over very little heat. When ready plunge short small tubes pasta in the boiling water. Simple and doesn't make you fat:)

Chciałam spróbować jej potraw i eksperymentowałam z jedzeniem.

Łatwy i tani makaron z groszkiem: napełnij niewielką ilością wody garnek z mrożonym groszkiem, solą i oliwą. Powinien się gotować na wolnym ogniu. Kiedy zmięknie, ugotuj drobny makaron zgodnie z instrukcją. Proste i nie tuczy:)
