Replacement/Zastępstwo

Back in 2008 I lived in Warsaw and worked in a school not far from the capital. There was another substitution teacher there, a woman in her forties who (just like me) was just back from England. She was different than other teachers: she didn’t care about discipline and had hard time with the pupils. She didn’t seem to bother.

The teacher was divorced; her young daughter got pregnant by a man who seemed to be trouble. Her body builder son was wrecking his health taking steroids. “I’m doing it for you mum!” – He told her once. The teacher met a man in England; she didn’t trust him, but was thinking of going back to that person.

Also I was torn apart between should I stay (in Poland) or should I go (to England). I flew to London in November 2008, but I hope that the other teacher decided to stay in Poland eventually. Her children needed her and in the end of the day, changing place isn’t quick fix. Still we believe that replacement will cure our problems. Finally make us happy.

W 2008 r. mieszkałam w Warszawie i pracowałam w szkole niedaleko stolicy.
